Linen’s wonderful healing properties
Linen is one of our favourite ethical fabric alternatives. Linen is a textile made from the fibres of the flax plant. You may be wondering, what exactly makes it so great? Well, linen is commonly referred to as “The healing fabric”.
Linen bedding is proven to assist in all types of healing. In the past the restorative properties of linen were acknowledged by its preferred use as bandages. Linen naturally fights against different types of bacteria and fungi, and flax is found to be a very effective barrier to some diseases. Hospital sheets used to use linen fabric because it was widely known to be the best for healing and protection against infections.
Are we on the same wavelength?
In 2003, a study was carried out by a doctor, Heidi Yellen, on the frequencies of fabric. According to this study, the human body has a signature frequency of 100, and organic cotton is the same – 100. The study showed that if the number is lower than 100, it puts a strain on the body. A diseased person has a frequency of about 15, and that is where polyester, rayon, and silk register. Non-organic cotton registers a signature frequency of about 70. If the fabric has a higher frequency, it gives energy to the body. This is where linen comes in as a super-fabric. Its frequency is 5,000.
As well as being exceptionally soft, linen’s natural long fibres help to regulate your body temperature as you sleep with its breathability and high moisture absorbency. It is perfectly light weight which helps to ease you into a wonderful deep sleep. Linen is ideal for every season – it keeps you cool in the Summer and cosy in the Winter. Another great quality of linen bedding is that it gets softer and softer with wear.
Additionally, the production of linen is very sustainable as every part of the flax plant can be used. It is a rotation crop, farmed naturally in small batches.
