The Hótel Eldhestar was the first lodging in Iceland to receive the Nordic eco label, the Nordic Swan. For both the building process as well as the daily operations, the hotel follows the guidelines of the Swan.
Hotel Brief
The hotel contacted fou furnishings ® to supply them with bed linen made with 100% Fairtrade certified organic cotton to replace bed linen previously purchased, the quality of which had been disappointing. To ensure the hotel was happy with the quality, custom fit and durability of the linens; sized samples were sent for the hotel to test through the commercial laundry, in advance of any purchase.
The linens were tested, the fit fine tuned and the make-up reworked for ease of Housekeeping. The linens were shipped to Iceland in late 2013. Feedback from the hotel April 2014:
